Behaviourism
Summary:
Students undertake a series of instructional activities with a clearly
defined outcome.
Teachers reinforce the correct behaviour through guiding the activity,
using positive reinforcement and creating activities that require the
individual to practice the knowledge or skill. As the student becomes more competent
in the activity the teacher reduces their level of reinforcement .
The activities are usually based on basic content knowledge and skills.
This enables the learner to become efficient in the fundamental concepts.
Eventually this basic knowledge is developed, creating the opportunity for the
learner to excel and be challenged by more complex knowledge and skills.
